Social Program/Event Space: 1924 Speakeasy @ Pride Center Galveston

The Historic brick Galveston building that is home to Pride Center Galveston was built in 1924. The prohibition era (1920-1933) in Galveston has a rich and storied history. The town was run by Mafia families for many years reporting back to Al Capone in Chicago. The origin use of current event room in the building was as pharmacy. Like many other pharmacies at the time a speakeasy was located behind the pharmacy.

The speakeasy is available now for private event rentals (weddings, bachelor/bachelorette party, family and business functions).

When not rented. The speakeasy is currently open on select weekends for fundraising efforts. LGBTQ+ Allies welcomed, safe environment with a wide selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages available. A great way to connect with others in our community and make friends. 21+
